So after having just seen - woodsrunnersdiary.blogspot.com/2016/09/some-observations-on-methods-by-which.html Just over your experience how has keeping the guns as well as the knives tucked into the belt been. Honestly I really like just tucking things in and usually their fine as long as its tight enough. But I have had things fall out that I could imagine would be a real problem if you forgot you lost your knife on the canoe or walking up a hill. But this is moreso for the firearms as there so bloody heavy. I dont think I see your pistol has a belt holder?

I have been carrying under my belt for a lot of years now, & checking them every now & then has become habit. I am sure that IF something were to fall out, one would know right away. Keith.

Would it be considered not 18th cen period correct to take a square of cotton, say from a bed sheet, cut it to size and wrap that around the waist in place of a sash or belt?

Personally I think that would be perfectly acceptable, much the same as would be using a piece of rope or leather strip. I see no point in trying to find documentation on that except for one's own information or to share but no need to justify its use. Keith.
